Judith Soumillion

Judith Soumillion began her harp studies at the age of 9 years in the class of Aurélie Guerreiro Viegas in Mechelen (Belgium). She graduated with highest praise. She started her Bachelor studies at the LUCA School of Arts, in Leuven (Belgium) with Lieve Robbroeckx. Thanks to the Erasmus exchange program she was able to study at the Prins Clausconservatorium in Groningen (Netherlands) with Manja Smits. At present she is enrolled in the Master program at Conservatorium Maastricht with Anneleen Lenaerts.

Already at a young age Judith participated in master classes with well-known harpists such as Catrin Finch, Jana Bouskova, Isabelle Perrin, Letizia Belmondo, Marie Pierre Langlamet, Elisabeth Fontan Binoche, Imogen Barford and Stephen Fitzpatrick.

She also took part in many competitions in Belgium and abroad. Judith won 1st prize at the Harpe Diem competition (2009), at the Arpeggio competition, at the Belfius Classics competition (2014) and a place in the finals of Suoni d’Arpa (2016).

Next to her soloistic performances Judith loves to play chamber music and in symphony orchestras. She has experiences with varied ensembles such as harp & saxophone, harp/organ, harpduo and the classic flute/viola/harp combination. She took part in many nice Conservatory orchestra projects, and is since a few years member of the Chamber Orchestra of Mechelen, with which she also performed as a soloist. This led to performances in the Brussels Munt Opera. Judith is a returning artist at the Orlando Festival.
