Jennifer Heins

Jennifer Heins (Delft, 1993) started music lessons (piano) at the age of 8. After a few years she took percussion lessons. In her fourth year of high school Jennifer switched to the School for Young Talent, which is part of the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. In her exam year she received an encouragement prize from the School for Young Talent.

At the age of 16 Jennifer was admitted to the Bachelor programme of the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. She studied percussion with Hans Zonderop, Fedor Teunisse, Peppie Wiersma and Theun van Nieuwburg and completed this study with a 9. During her studies Jennifer was percussionist with the National Youth Orchestra.

In 2014 Jennifer studied during six months at the Hochschule für Musik München, with Professor Raymond Curfs, as part of the Erasmus-Exchange Program.
In June 2017 Jennifer obtained her Master of Music diploma with a 9 and graduated by playing James Macmillan’s percussion concert Veni, veni, Emmanuel with The Hague Philharmonic conducted by Ryan Bancroft. During her master Jennifer followed the orchestra master specialisation with The Hague Philharmonic.

Currently Jennifer is percussionist in Ensemble Kluster5 and she plays as a substitute with such orchestras as the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, the North Netherlands Orchestra, the Orchestra of the East, The Hague Percussion and Asko|Schoenberg.

Jennifer is principal study teacher of percussion at the young talent department of the Royal Conservatoire and she lectures a minor in Classical Snare drum to the percussion students of Jazz.
